  1. Example of Proponent Testimony for House Bill 68 (the SAFE Act):

Dear Chairman Lipps, Vice Chair Stewart, Ranking Member Liston, and Members of the Committee:

I write in strong support of House Bill 68. As a former middle school teacher, current homeschool teacher, interested observer of education issues in our state, and the mother of two adolescents, I am horrified at the grievous harm being done to children in the name of “gender affirming care.” Children who are suffering from confusion need firm boundaries and wise, loving support from the adults in their lives. Unfortunately, the opposite approach seems to dominate many Ohio communities.

The current push for life-altering medications and gender surgeries is deeply alarming, and it is allowing predation of vulnerable youth by profit-seeking entities. It seems to follow the trend we see in so many arenas right now: journalism, education, medicine, law enforcement, finance…in all of these areas, we see the trend of rational criteria for decision-making being replaced with ideology.

Children who are experiencing confusion about gender should be treated to loving patience and mental health support, directed and initiated by their families. Instead, the ethical boundaries we have relied upon in education and medicine have been replaced with outside agendas designed to increase political and social capital and enrich medical providers. These decisions are not centered on the well-being of minor children, they often ignore the distinction between children and adults, and they are causing real harm to kids whose basic personalities, mental faculties, and emotional development are not yet fully intact.

Please help safeguard the health and safety of our kids. Keep our children safe from these optional, life-altering medical practices like puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and mutilating surgeries. Please hold the line and protect children from the debilitating outcomes of “gender affirming care”.

    Thank you.

  2. Jamie says:

    Dear Speaker Stephens,
I’m writing to urge you to please do all you can to support HB 68 (the SAFE Act). The startling and horrific treatment of suffering children under the guise of “Gender Affirming Therapy” is heartbreaking and should not be allowed in any civilized society. Protection of children is a bedrock of our way of life and this bill will be crucial in that endeavor. Please do everything you can to ensure this bill sees a vote on the House floor as soon as possible.
    Thank you.

  3. Here’s what I sent to Speaker Stephens using the contact form linked above. Feel free to use the same wording.
